RapidFire 2009

3 11 2008

Ok it’s time to get out some information out about this year’s Rapidfire.

There will be a meeting for interested members and parents on November 6th at 6pm in the band room. During the meeting we will discuss the Rapidfire season, level of commitment needed, expectations, schedule and answer any questions. We will also explain the audition process and hand out audition material. All band students are welcome to audition.

**DO NOT LET THE WORD “AUDITION” PREVENT YOU FROM TRYING OUT FOR RAPIDFIRE”

Anthony and I are looking forward to a successful season.

The Stuff You Need.

26 08 2008

Hello, it’s been awhile since I put anything up, but I wanted to get some information out to you guys. I need you guys to bring $20 to me as soon as possible.  What for? Well I need to buy the wrist bands that we wear with our uniform. It’s additional to the uniform and the band does not supply them. Also that 20 includes the headbands.

NOTE: This is for drumline only! If you are in the pit and want wrist bands, bring $7. The pit does not wear headbands.

I don’t have a price on drumline t-shirts yet but it’s coming. Also we are working on a drumline jacket.

Please remember that for performances we wear PLAIN white t-shirts with regular collar. No V-neck. Also white socks that come ABOVE the ankle.

See ya soon.

Frontline/Pit Schedule

14 05 2008

The students in the pit will not begin summer practices until June 3rd and then every Tuesday from 5-7pm during the summer. This goes up until band camp begins. Sorry for any confusion.

Clarification for the May 13th practice

13 05 2008

Middle school students that have a concert are NOT required to come to that practice. If you are on the Bass drum line, you can come to the hour long bass practice at 4pm.

Practice Info.

7 05 2008

The recent handout of practice dates has been changed due to the Band Concert at James River on May 20th, that the Robious band is also playing at. The next week James River is having its Band Banquet. The May 13 practice will remain as scheduled.

Since these dates have conflicted with our schedule here is a new one.

All Bass Drum sectionals have been moved. They are now scheduled 1 hour before actual drumline practice begins. Please be set up and ready to go a 4.

May 13, Full Line and Pit 5 – 7:30.  Basses at 4

May 22 (Thursday) Full Line  5 – 7:30. Basses at 4

May 28 (Wednesday) Full Line  5 – 7:30. Basses at 4

Hopefully this will not change again for the remainder of the month. Remember, May is the most important month of the upcoming season. This month will show what we can become. Work your hardest and learn everything we have worked on to the best of your ability. Never stop practicing.

Frontline is to attend these rehearsals.

Any problems please contact Kevin via Email or Telephone.

the fine print

2 05 2008

Ok, this was a very long and difficult audition. Some of you are happy and some may be disappointed. But if you stick with this you will make it to where you want to be. It is not easy and it takes hard work. When I say we are the best line in Chesterfield county its because I demand alot and we work very hard. Anything worth doing is worth working for. There is a reason we had 25 students try out. The most ever!

If you are in the pit, work hard and learn all you can. It will help you be a better PERCUSSIONIST. That’s what you want to be right?  Peter, Liam, and JP were in the pit last year and made the line this year. During the rest of the year and summer you will have the chance to learn how to play mallet instruments. Doing this will make you better. Your hands will get better and you will learn to count and read music at a higher level. Some of the best drummers in the drumline are also our best mallet players.

Members of the drumline, be prepared to work hard and learn alot of music.

Finally, all positions are not final. You can be cut. If you don’t participate, learn your music, master your technique or progress at the level you are expected to as well as have attitude issues. You will not continue to be a member of James River Percussion.

But I’m sure that will not be a problem. Let’s have a great year!
